Advanced Rifle Protection Without the Weight

Ceramic-and-UHMWPE hybrid construction rated to NIJ 0101.07 RF2 -- engineered for rifle threats at nearly half the weight of steel.

Mosaic Ceramic & UHMWPE Hybrid

A silicon carbide mosaic ceramic strike face bonded to a UHMWPE composite core — the ceramic disrupts and fragments incoming rounds while the polyethylene backing absorbs residual energy, all at nearly half the weight of steel. The UHMWPE core is shaped with a multi-curve profile for a closer, more natural fit against the body.

Multi-Hit Tested: M193, M855 & 7.62x39

Multi-hit tested to defeat M193 @ 3,245 fps, M855 @ 3,100 fps, and 7.62x39mm — also rated for handgun rounds and stab resistance.

Ultra-Slim, Ultralight

At just 3.1 lbs and roughly half an inch thick, Aegis delivers RF2-rated protection without the bulk of steel or monolithic ceramic.

SAPI & Mobility Cuts

Available in a SAPI cut for maximum coverage or a Mobility (Assault) cut for a closer range of motion — mix and match front and back to fit your loadout.

Nylon wrapped wrapped 360 coverage plus foam edge protection and foam front padding protects the ceramic strike face from damage.

Discrete, minimal, and lightweight, the Silicon Carbide (SiC) strike face is arranged in a mosaic pattern rather than square tile or monolithic strike faces giving enhanced multi-hit durability.

UHMWPE behind the ceramic strike face provides a stable base for enhanced ceramic compression and subsequent capture of projectile fragmentation and kinetic dispersion.

The Aegis Special Rifle Threat plate is designed to take multiple impacts while maintaining ballistic resistance and extending protection under fire.

Multi-curve design in all of our PE plates ensures a better and more natural fit, allowing for more comfortable prolonged use in demanding conditions.

Key Features

Special Rifle Threat | RF2

  • Built to counter enhanced (and common) rifle threats that overwhelm traditional armor, combining ceramic strike technology with a polyethylene core for lightweight, multi-hit capable protection.

Ultra Slim - Ultralight - Ultra Durable

Fragmentation Protection

  • The laminated construction of PE plates disperses ballistic energy efficiently upon impact. The Aegis is designed to reduce projectile fragmentation and help minimize the risk of secondary injuries caused by bullet debris.

Stand-Alone

  • This stand-alone body armor is built for multiple-hit capability following rigorous testing to ensure protection that exceeds NIJ 0101.06 and leans into NIJ 0101.07 RF2 standards.

Applications

Designed for law enforcement, military personnel, and prepared civilians where light weight, slim profile, and enhanced rifle-threat capability are priorities.

Choose Your Plate Size Based on Torso Coverage, Not Body Weight

Plate size is determined by your torso's width and height, not your overall body weight — an oversized plate restricts movement, an undersized plate leaves vital areas exposed.

Id love to give these plates 5 stars, but due to lack of video proof of these plates actually stopping cartridges, I can only give 3. For the average person, its a good chunk of money to drop on an unknown, untested armor. That being said, these plates are incredibly lightweight just as advertised. They fit very comfortable in the Invictus Templar MK1 carrier which is also extremely light weight and comfortable. They are true multi curve so they will be comfortable for all day use. I wear my setup for about 7hrs a day, and ill say its the most comfortable rig ive ever donned. Hopefully ill never need to put the ballistic rating to the test, and I hope some video evidence comes out soon to ease some wandering minds such as myself.

Joe,

We appreciate your feedback and your business, and we’re glad to hear the plates and MK I carrier have been comfortable for extended wear.

I do want to respectfully push back on one part of the review, however—specifically describing the armor as “unknown” or “untested” and assigning a 3-star rating because there is not currently a published video of the testing.

These plates have undergone ballistic testing, and the test report is published specifically so customers can review the actual results. In fact, a ballistic test report provides considerably more useful information than a video of a plate being shot. A video can show an impact and whether an obvious penetration occurred, but it generally cannot tell you the measured velocity, backface deformation, shot placement, test conditions, or the other data necessary to meaningfully evaluate ballistic performance. The test report provides that information.

We actually do have footage of these plates being shot, but the footage itself is fairly unremarkable—it essentially shows the plate being fired upon and the resulting impact. That is why we have prioritized publishing the underlying ballistic test data rather than presenting a shooting video as stronger evidence than it actually is.

We completely understand wanting as much information as possible before trusting a piece of lifesaving equipment, and we certainly don’t fault anyone for asking questions about ballistic performance. We just don’t believe it is accurate to characterize armor with published ballistic testing as “untested” because video footage of that testing has not also been published.

That said, your feedback regarding video is heard, and we may publish the footage we have so customers who would like to see it have that additional reference.

Thank you again for your business, and we’re genuinely glad to hear the system has been serving you well during those long days of wear.

Best,
Calvin

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Aegis NIJ compliant?

Aegis is engineered to exceed legacy NIJ Level III expectations and complies with NIJ 0101.07 RF2 standards, multi-hit tested against 5.56mm M193, M855, and 7.62x39mm rifle threats, plus handgun rounds and stab resistance.

What's the difference between the ceramic and UHMWPE (polyethylene) layers?

Aegis is a hybrid plate -- it combines a silicon carbide ceramic strike face with a UHMWPE (polyethylene) backing. The ceramic disrupts and fragments the incoming round on impact, while the laminated UHMWPE disperses the remaining energy and helps reduce projectile fragmentation. This hybrid construction is how Aegis reaches rifle-rated protection at roughly the weight of comparable steel, at about half the thickness.

Can Aegis be shipped to my state?

Body armor cannot be shipped outside the United States, or to New York or Connecticut. Some felony convictions may also prohibit the purchase, ownership, or use of body armor -- please confirm your local and federal eligibility before ordering.

How many plates do I need, and what size/cut should I choose?

Aegis plates are sold individually -- most customers select two (front and back coverage) in the same size and cut. Available in 8" x 10" (Small, SAPI cut) and 10" x 12" (Standard, SAPI or Mobility (Assault) cut). See the Sizing & Fit tab above for full measurements and notes.

What happens if I'm shot while wearing Aegis?

If you are shot while wearing Aegis, we will replace it free of charge. A valid police report is required to process the replacement.
